We had a great open hive at Jo’s place in Wilmington yesterday! Jeff B and Jo did a great job leading the inspection of two hives. The other experienced beekeepers chimed in, too, and everybody learned something. We practiced marking drones (boy – that green stands out), did a hive reversal, and tested for mites via a sugar roll and an alcohol wash.
Thank you, Jo, for letting us play with your gentle hives at your beautiful apiary. Jeff B, thank you for sharing your wisdom! Thanks for coming, everybody. That was a lot of fun – good company and conversations!
See you in June at the next open hive in Wilmington. We’ll be making a split and creating a nuc. Think sun and warm!
