The dandelions are out! The bees are flying (when it is not oddly cold)! Join us to celebrate on Saturday, May 16 at 1:00 pm for a meeting at the Butterfield Library in Westminster. Jeff Battaglini will talk to us about the dreaded Varroa mites during his presentation, “Varroa mites: Know your enemy!“
Here’s the address for the library:
Butterfield Library
3534 US Route 5
Westminster, VT 05158
Congratulations and thank you to the board members who were confirmed during the last meeting!
- Heidi Fortsch, President
- Chris Oehl, Vice President
- Denise Natale, Treasurer
- Diane Schips, Secretary
- Jeff Battaglini, Officer at Large
And a BIG thank you to David and Michele Clift for supporting the club as president and secretary! Thank you for your dedication and hard work!
A friendly reminder: Member dues (renewals) are due now. The club needs your support to pay for our speakers, meeting venues and operating costs. If you are not a member, join us! Individuals pay $10 a year to join WCB; families pay $15. Check out the Windham County Beekeepers website for more information. Let us know if you’d like to add something to any of the site pages.
The Vermont Beekeepers Association librarian, Chris Oehl will be attending the meeting on May 16 and is in possession of the collection. The list includes 283 books and videos, although many are presently outstanding. This collection is available for all current VBA members, who can access the list of the collection and email him through the VBA website. He will bring the books to the meeting!
Another reminder: Our club has received a donation of a beautiful quilt with a bee design. The dimensions are 57 1/2 x 68 1/4, it fits a twin or daybed, lay on top of a double bed or the back of a couch. We will hold a raffle, a $20.00 donation per ticket will secure your chance to own this one-of-a-kind quilt. We hope to have it on display at our meetings at the library.
