Windham County Beekeepers (WCB) is a club that was formed to support beekeepers throughout southern Vermont. It was born in the summer of 2018 on Jeff Battaglini’s picnic table in West Wardsboro. Bill Mares, former Vermont Beekeepers Association (VBA) president, encouraged Jeff B, Lesley Weisbrot, and Ashleigh Southworth to form a county club in support of beekeepers in Windham County. Jill Dean, Wardsboro’s librarian, Jeff Cunningham of West Westminster, and Nancy Frye of the Brattleboro Area Beekeepers’ Guild also provided invaluable support in launching this club, as did Mark Williams of South Newfane and Alan Robinson of Wilmington.

WCB’s goal is to support healthy, sustainable bees and the beekeepers that tend them in southern Vermont. We also aim to provide educational opportunities for all beekeepers and help support the art of beekeeping in Windham County.

As part of these goals, WCB helped the VBA organize its 2019 summer meeting at Leland and Gray in Townshend. Beekeepers from all over Vermont descended upon Windham County on July 13, 2019 to discuss the many different beekeeping issues affecting our state. We’re looking after the welfare of our bees!

If you have any questions about joining WCB or beekeeping, let us know.  We look forward to hearing from you!
